Milan Malfait
Milan Malfait is a Research Software Engineer at UCL's Advanced Research Computing (ARC) centre, where he has been working since April 2023. He holds two Master's degrees in Bioengineering and Bioinformatics, and previously worked as a bioinformatician at Université Libre de Bruxelles. He worked as a research assistant at Ghent University, where he developed statistical methods for single-cell transcriptomics data in collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceutica, before transitioning to Research Software Engineering at UCL's Advanced Research Computing centre (ARC). At ARC, he has established himself as an expert in R programming, served as the lead developer on various healthcare projects, and is a member of the cross-institutional SAFEHR initiative. Since March 2025, he has also joined ARC's Trusted Research Environment (TRE) team as a core developer.
